How mero.church collects, uses and protects information for church offices and the members they add. Plain language — if anything here is unclear, just ask.
Effective October 2026, while mero.church is in beta.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how mero.church ("we", "us") handles personal information through the mero.church dashboard and mobile app (together, the "service"). It applies to church offices that set up an account, to members those churches add, and to visitors to this website.
mero.church is currently in beta. The practices described here apply during beta, and we will update this page if anything material changes before general availability.
2. Your church controls member data
For information about members — names, phone numbers, households, prayer requests and the like — your church is the data controller and mero.church is the data processor. Your church decides what to collect and why. We store and process it on your church's instructions, only to run the service.
Requests to access, correct or delete a member's information should normally start with the church office that added them. We act on those requests when a church asks us to.
3. What we collect
Information your church provides about members
- Name, phone number and household grouping
- Birthday, group memberships and role (member or group leader)
- Certificates or records the office files against a member
We do not collect a member's email address for sign-in. Sign-in is by phone number only, set by the church.
Information members share themselves
- Prayer requests submitted to the prayer wall
- Documents sent back to the church office from their phone
- Messages sent through the app
Financial records your church enters
Ledger entries, categories and transactions your office records by hand. mero.church does not process payments or handle card details — finance in the app is bookkeeping of money that has already moved.
Your church's Theos profile
The answers your pastors and elders write to the doctrine questions that guide how Theos responds.
Church office accounts
Name and email address for the pastors and administrators who sign in to the dashboard.
Technical information
Device information needed to deliver push notifications, and basic logs used to keep the service running and secure. We do not use advertising trackers.
4. How we use it
We use this information to run the features described on this site: member and household records, groups, events, services, the hymn library, the prayer wall, document exchange, messaging and push notifications, and finance bookkeeping. We also use it to secure accounts, answer support requests, and improve the service during beta.
We do not use member information to serve advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
5. Theos and your doctrine profile
Theos answers using only your church's own doctrine profile. It does not draw on another church's profile, and it does not use one church's questions to answer another church's members. Theos is an assistant for answering questions about what your church believes — it is not given access to write or send on your behalf, and it does not draft sermons, prayers or teaching material.
Questions members ask Theos may be processed by third-party AI infrastructure providers solely to generate a response, under terms that prohibit them from using that data to train their own models.
7. How long we keep it
We keep church and member information for as long as the account is active. If a church closes its account we delete or anonymise the associated data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal or accounting reasons.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls limiting who can reach production data, and routine review of that access. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected churches promptly if we become aware of an incident affecting their data.
9. Children's information
Church directories often include children, as members of a household or of youth groups. That information is added by the church, not by the child, and the church is responsible for having appropriate parental or guardian consent under its own policies and applicable law. We do not market to children or knowingly collect information directly from a child outside what a church has added on their behalf.
10. Where information is processed
Information may be processed or stored outside the country where your church is located. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to protect it consistently with this policy.
11. Your rights
If you are a member, the fastest route to access, correct or delete your information is your church office — they hold your record and can act on it directly. If you are a church office, contact us any time for account-level requests.
12. Cookies on this website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Loading it may request fonts from our font provider so the page renders correctly; that is a routine technical request and is not used to track you across other sites.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change. For material changes we will tell church offices directly rather than relying on this page alone.
